Murwillumbah Sporting Car Club (MSCC) opened its 2024 season with a successful khanacross at Murwillumbah Showgrounds, attracting 25 competitors and a strong crowd of spectators.
Each driver completed 12 runs of the course during a busy day of competition. With every run counting towards the final result, consistency mattered throughout the event.
Andrew Bostock delivered a commanding performance in his Holden Cruze, recording the fastest time on all 12 runs and finishing with a combined time of 664.79 seconds.
He was the only competitor to finish below 700 seconds, securing the outright victory ahead of junior driver Jude Livermore in a Nissan Pulsar.
Livermore came close to winning individual runs on several occasions and completed the event with an impressive total time of 710 seconds.
Behind Bostock, the contest was considerably tighter. Stuart McConville finished third in his Mitsubishi Cordia, just 12 seconds behind Livermore.
Harrison Bugg narrowly missed the podium in his Subaru WRX, finishing 11 seconds behind McConville. Aiden Boresch brought his Subaru Impreza home in fifth place, a further 12 seconds back.
Junior development was a strong feature of the season opener, with 10 young drivers taking part. Livermore’s second-place finish and Boresch’s fifth place highlighted the junior performances, while Jarrod Houben and Thomas Busbridge also earned places inside the top 10.
With the exception of Livermore, all junior competitors drove the club-provided Subaru Impreza. Despite the wet conditions, the young drivers handled the course without any major issues.
Bostock also claimed the Class E honours, while Livermore won the Junior class and McConville took out Class A/B. John Panozzo secured the Class C/D win in his Mitsubishi 380.
With a full programme of runs, close competition and encouraging junior results, the opening khanacross provided a positive start to MSCC’s 2024 season.
