Young Driver Program

Murwillumbah Sporting Car Club’s Young Drivers Program, is a comprehensive initiative designed to foster the next generation of responsible, skilled drivers. Our program offers young drivers a unique opportunity to learn essential driving techniques in a safe and supervised environment, preparing them not only for motorsport but for everyday road driving as well.

Program Overview

The Young Drivers Program is tailored to drivers as young as 12 years old, helping them develop fundamental skills early on. Whether participants are looking to pursue competitive motorsport or simply improve their driving abilities, this program builds confidence, awareness, and practical car control.

Key aspects of the program include:

  • Basic Vehicle Control: Learning how to handle a vehicle safely, including steering, braking, and acceleration.
  • Car Awareness and Maintenance: Understanding the mechanics of a car and basic maintenance tips to ensure vehicle safety and reliability.
  • Driving Techniques: Developing key skills such as cornering, handling wet or slippery conditions, and braking control.
  • Road Safety: Emphasizing the importance of safety, respect for the road, and responsible driving habits, both on and off the track.

Hands-on Experience

At MSCC, we believe that the best way to learn is by doing. Through our Young Drivers Program, participants will have the chance to get behind the wheel in a controlled and supervised environment. Our experienced instructors guide young drivers through practical sessions that build skills and boost their confidence.

The program includes:

  • Motorkhana Sessions: Low-speed, precision driving in controlled courses, focusing on car control and agility.
  • Garage Mornings: half day sessions that combine machanical instruction with on-track practice, enabling young drivers to apply what they've learned.
  • Hill Climbs and Track Events: For more advanced participants, the program offers opportunities to test their skills in competitive settings under the guidance of experienced mentors.
Mentorship and Community

The Young Drivers Program is more than just a learning experience—it’s a community. Participants will be mentored by experienced drivers and long-time members of the Murwillumbah Sporting Car Club. They’ll also connect with other young drivers, sharing experiences and developing friendships that last beyond the program.

Benefits of the Young Drivers Program
  • Improved Driving Confidence: Learning to handle a car in a variety of situations helps young drivers feel more comfortable behind the wheel.
  • Enhanced Car Control: Practical experience teaches participants how to respond to challenging driving conditions, improving both safety and performance.
  • Foundation for Motorsport Careers: For those interested in pursuing motorsport, the program provides an excellent foundation for future competition.
  • Road Safety Skills: The emphasis on safety prepares young drivers to be cautious, responsible road users from the start.
