Members of the Murwillumbah Sporting Car Club were saddened to learn of the passing of Dr John Moran, affectionately known as “Dr John”, after a long illness.

A foundation member of MSCC, John supported the club’s early events as medical officer. He regularly attended club meetings, bringing good humour, foresight and many years of experience to the conversation.

Always cheerful and fond of a beer, John was a valued part of the club community. His enthusiasm for Fiats, including the rebuilding of his early-model Fiat 500, provided plenty of friendly humour among members, who wondered how such a big man could fit into such a small car.

John’s medical practice was among the first local businesses to support MSCC through sponsorship. He also shared the club’s vision for the Young Driver Program and wanted to see it succeed.

His contribution extended well beyond motorsport. John was remembered as a man whose impact on Murwillumbah matched his stature, with a commitment to the wellbeing, health and prosperity of the region.

The club extends its sympathy and condolences to John’s family, including the grandchildren upon whom he doted.

Rest in peace, John.
